CHINA MINING Congress & Expo Awards and Awards Dinner
CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2008 was held under the theme of “Sustaining Prosperity – Mining in a Challenging Time”. In order to implement the theme and to show gratifying results in this area, the organizer also arranged the inaugural CHINA MINING Congress & Expo Awards.
The Awards recognized achievements within the Chinese mining industry in the following four categories:
• “The Prospector/Exploration of the Year Award” went to the Fuwan Silver Property Program of the Minco Silver Corporation
• “The Mining Environmental Protection Award” went to the Dexing Mine Water Treatment Plant Program of Jiangxi Cooper Company Limited.
• “The Mine Development Award” went to the Jinying Gold Mine Program of Sino Gold Jilin BMZ Mining Limited.
• “The Governmental Support Award” went to the Department of Land & Resources, Sichuan Province.
Nearly 600 mining guests from China and abroad were invited to attend this presentation and congratulate the CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2008 Award winners. The dinner provided an excellent opportunity for delegates of all fields to meet in an informal and relaxed atmosphere and to become part of a sociable and entertaining evening.

Mine Site Visits
CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2008 offered delegates the opportunity to visit mine sites of CHALCO Guangxi Branch which is located in Pingguo County, in the province of Guangxi. The mining area is scattered over a typical Karst mountainous area. With nearly 800 million tons of future reserves, the Pingguo bauxite field of Guangxi is the first in China. This activity provided domestic and foreign delegates and exhibitors a beneficiary platform for co-operations, as well as a chance to witness a leading mining enterprise in China.

Students Day
With the rapid development of China's mining industry in recent years, a majority of mining enterprises are troubled by the current talent shortage. CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2008 arranged 400 college students to visit the exhibition area. All students are mining majors at China University of Mining and Technology, China University of Geosciences, The University of Science and Technology Beijing or the School of Earth and Space Sciences at Peking University. Recruiters spoke on-site with students face to face in order to preserve the first-rate talents.

CHINA MINING Expo’s 5th anniversary
The CHINA MINING Expo’s 5th anniversary was a big celebration of the past successes. So the exhibition focused on many outstanding co-operation projects of domestic and foreign partners and also showed the development of CHINA MINING Expo in the past five years. All these achievements proved that CHINA MINING Congress & Expo has become a truly global mining event.

Featured Seminars
During the event, some institutions and enterprises organized a number of receptions and symposiums, including the 3rd Annual Sino-Australia Mining Investment Conference, the Canada Mining Day and Reception, the South Africa Mining Forum, CEO's China Mining Industry Networking Cocktail, etc. Additionally, many targeted and practical seminars relevant to the Global Financial Crisis and the Global Mining Industry enriched the event.
