China vice Premier Li Keqiang addressed during the opening ceremony of CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2010 and he talked about how China and the world should co-operate and work together for mutual benefit and how to develop a sustainable mining industry. Also, Huang Xingguo, Mayor of Tianjin, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Managing Director, The World Bank, H.E. David Mulroney, Ambassador of Canada to, Mr. David Malcomson, Chargé d'Affaires, South African Embassy to China and Mr. Alan Morrell, Minister (Commercial), Embassy of Australia to China addressed in the opening as well.
Mr. Zhang Gaoli, Tianjin Municipal Party Secretary General, H.E. Luis A. Giampietri Rojas, First Vice President of the Republic of Peru also seated in the chairman's podium.
Keynote Session of the Theme
Following the opening, the Keynote Session on the theme of CHINA MINING 2010: Co-operation, Responsibility and Development provided a forum where high-level government representatives from China, Ministry of Land & Resources, Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Environmental Protection and Commerce discussed China’s 12th Five year plan and policies, challenges and strategies for how to develop the co-operation with the international mining community under the global financial and mining recovery. Financial experts and economists from China National Development Bank, The Export-Import Bank of China and Bank of China, China Foreign Investment Research Institute and OECD share their views on the outlook of global economy and its impact on the mining industry and how the
financial sector better serve the mining sector.

CHINA MINING Organizing Committee joint hand with BOC International and organized sessions to discuss capital demand of mining companies during different development stages and how to choose the financing approaches, present the fund
manager’s view on mining company valuation, compare the characteristics between the capital market in China and Hong Kong and how to use financial instruments such as futures to hedge the risk of commodities’ price fluctuations.
China’s Outbound Mining Investment
In this session, financial and industry experts discussed the China’s outbound investment and financing aspects and the establishment of venture capital exploration in China’s capital market. Financial institutes, such as Scotia Capital and Standard Bank and other research institutes, including Information Center, Ministry of Land and Resources China, Metals Economics Group and Institute of Industrial Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences presented in that session. Chinese mining companies introduced their successful company strategies how to invest abroad and their outbound investment planning.
Panel discussion was organized and gathered all the parties together to discuss exactly the challenges and practices for outbound investment incl. financing, accounting & taxation, HR, consulting, research, due diligence and others that are important to ensure the successful investment abroad.
Commodities Forum
Seven breakout sessions regarding hot commodities were arranged to discuss the key minerals demand and supply in China and the world. Good updates on the minerals trends and impacts on mine development and exploration status. The covered minerals include: Iron Ore, Uranium, Copper, Lead, Zinc, Nickel, Gold, Potash and Aluminum.
Global Exploration and China Geological Survey
Global mining exploration analysis, China government representatives from mining and geological survey authority discussed the status and trends of global exploration. China’s geological survey development and geo-data utilization were specially introduced in this session.
Sustainability in Mining
Experts share their insights with audiences for development a sustainable mining from the aspects of mine safety, health, mining assent protection, environment protection and corporate social responsibility.
Techniques and Equipments
It is a platform for techniques provider and equipments producer to present their latest technical innovations in exploration and mining. Interested audiences can visit their booths and know more about the covered techniques and equipments after the session.
Country and Company Presentations
CHINA MINING provides a terrific platform for presenting mining investment opportunities in major mining countries and regions and totally organized eight breakout sessions with respective governments or agencies. Government representatives talked about mining, exploration and FDI in Australia, Canada, Asia, Africa, Sudan, Argentina and Latin America.
